✦ The Role
The Casualty Binders Claims Adjuster is responsible for the effective oversight, control and handling of Casualty claims written under package delegated authority arrangements. The role ensures claims are managed in accordance with policy terms, claims handling agreements, internal claims governance, and applicable regulatory requirements, while delivering fair outcomes and strong technical stewardship across delegated portfolios.

✦ Key Responsibilities
✦ Claims Handling & Technical Oversight
- Oversee and manage US Casualty claims arising from delegated authority arrangements, including third‑party liability, bodily injury, property damage, and related casualty exposures.
- Conduct coverage analysis and provide technical direction on liability, quantum, reserving and settlement strategy for delegated claims.
- Act as a referral point for complex, large loss or coverage‑sensitive claims, escalating as required in line with authority levels and governance requirements.
- Review and approve coverage positions, reservation of rights, declinatures and settlement recommendations prepared by delegated claims administrators (DCAs) or TPAs.
✦ Delegated Authority & Vendor Management
- Contribute towards day‑to‑day oversight and challenge of DCAs / TPAs to ensure compliance with claims handling agreements, service level agreements, and internal claims standards.
- Act as an escalation point for performance, quality or conduct concerns, supporting remediation plans where required.
✦ Financial & Reserving Control
- Ensure accurate and timely reserving in line with best practice, authority limits and internal reserving guidelines.
- Monitor loss funds, large loss development and financial movements across binder portfolios.
- Support actuarial, finance and management reporting through high‑quality commentary and claims insights.
✦ Governance, Compliance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure claims are handled in accordance with internal Claims Manuals, regulatory requirements and delegated authority governance frameworks.
- Support audits, peer reviews and internal assurance activity relating to delegated claims.
- Work collaboratively with underwriting, compliance, actuarial and legal teams to support underwriting intent, portfolio performance and risk management.
- Participate in underwriting, broker, coverholder and TPA meetings as required, providing claims input and portfolio feedback.

- Proven experience handling or overseeing US casualty claims, ideally within a binder or delegated authority environment.
- Strong technical understanding of liability coverage, policy interpretation and claims lifecycle management.
- Experience working with TPAs, DCAs or outsourced claims providers.
- Sound knowledge of reserving principles and claims financial controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Lloyd’s or company market delegated authority frameworks.
- Experience supporting audits, coverholder reviews or performance improvement plans.
- Strong attention to detail and sound technical judgement.
- Confident decision‑maker, comfortable working within defined authority levels.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities across multiple portfolios.
- Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
- The role operates within defined claims authority limits and is accountable for compliance with the Claims Manual and delegated authority governance requirements.
