The Specialist Consumer Products team are a market leading provider of creditor, affinity group A&H and mortgage insurance. The role involves assisting with the underwriting and managing a growing portfolio of international business, in line with the business plan and personal authority limits.
As part of the Specialist Consumer Products team, you will support underwriting and manage an expanding portfolio of international business, adhering to the business plan and personal authority limits.
Responsibilities- You will assess and underwrite renewal business targeting business plan loss ratios.
- Assist underwriters in assessing and underwriting new business opportunities.
- Underwrite individual referrals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
- Develop a clear understanding of Consumer Duty, Fair Value measures and other FCA conduct guidance.
- Prepare binders and slips for renewals, ensuring all internal processes are followed.
- Participate in the product review process and review those products particularly allocated to you.
- Actively participate in monthly SCP team reporting and SCP Claims meetings.
- Compile monthly underwriting reports.
- Develop effective working relationships with other teams including Conduct, Delegated Underwriting Management and Compliance.
- In conjunction with the Head of Technical Underwriting, review and finalise contract wordings and customer documentation to maintain compliance with regulation and in light of Consumer Duty.
- Ability to exercise sound underwriting judgement based upon detailed risk analysis.
- General knowledge of insurance and underwriting within the Lloyd’s marketplace.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Word.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
