This role is for someone who cares deeply about narrative quality and wants to elevate our brand positioning. It requires process discipline and creative smarts, leadership skills and performance-driven strategy to ensure our content aligns with our business objectives. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, technology marketing and the use of technology in marketing. They would love to gain experience translating strategy into impact, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. They enjoy learning and improving themselves, the team and the organization. They problem solve, get hands-on, experiment, measure and use automation and AI to make daily life easier. To succeed in this role, the candidate must be driven, organized and attentive to detail.

These roles report to the Director/Head of Communications and work in close partnership with the Product Management function, as well as Alliances, Sales and Marketing teams, to communicate key company news and announcements, and manage perception of Canonical and its range of products.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

What your day will look like:

  • Develop and execute a content marketing strategy that aligns with our business goals, SEO and brand.
  • Manage our content calendar end to end, ensuring content is efficiently produced with minimum friction and process clarity.
  • Ensure content quality, consistency and brand alignment in everything we produce.
  • Collaborate with our web team to optimize content for search and AI engines, building on proven SEO or GEO expertise.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs for our content program and use analytics tools to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Align messaging to ensure integrated campaign support across channels, working closely with our marketing, product and brand teams.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and work across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with communications and content strategy, including applied knowledge of content marketing and social media.
  • Proven experience creating authoritative and engaging content, or leading large-scale brand campaigns. Portfolio of written work required.
  • Strong strategic thinking grounded in consumer insight, audience awareness, and brand understanding.
  • Passion for messaging quality and written communication.
  • Technical curiosity, and interest in software technology and its challenges.
  • A data-driven approach to communications and content, understanding how to measure and present results that are material to the business.
  • An exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
  • Business level written and spoken English.
  • Sincere personal motivation aligned with our mission.
  • International travel 2-4 times a year for company events up to two weeks long.
  • 2-7 years of experience in a relevant field.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Applied knowledge of AEO/GEO and SEO.
  • Experience in B2B technology marketing, communications or related fields.
  • Experience developing content marketing or communications strategies for enterprise technology products.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira.
