This application track is for a product management position at Canonical in Cloud Native. Commercial Strategy and Marketing Leadership

This role is responsible for the commercial strategy and marketing leadership of one of our cloud native operations product areas, including:

  • Juju – the open source orchestration engine for software operators that enables deployment, integration and lifecycle management of applications at any scale, on any infrastructure using charms.
  • Identity management – defining how authentication, authorisation and identity governance controls are applied across Ubuntu One SSO and other Canonical products.
  • Observability – outlining the strategy for how Canonical products and charms perform tracing and discern underlying system health.
Location

This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the product lifecycle by reviewing priorities and goals for the products you own.
  • Work closely with engineering leads to oversee the product development process.
  • Collaborate with cross‐functional teams (engineering, design, marketing, sales) to align priorities and keep business execution on track.
  • Conduct market research, analyze industry trends and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and ensure alignment with Canonical's vision.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Establish KPIs for project status reporting and communicate them across Canonical.
  • Drive execution excellence through continuous feedback and improvement.
  • Contribute to strategies for building high‐performing teams.
  • Support the sales team in winning new opportunities by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings.
Qualifications
  • Seasoned product management experience in technical domains related to open‐source software usage or management within the cloud native landscape.
  • Experience designing or managing software operations for large‐scale distributed systems.
  • Good understanding of cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker containers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of common enterprise security and compliance requirements in software operations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive execution to excellence.
  • Passion for writing about technologies and experience in developer marketing.
  • Strong work ethic and personal interests aligned with open‐source philosophy.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
