Linux Desktop Support Associate (London UK office)

Join the Canonical team as a Linux Desktop Support Associate in our London office. In this role you will provide first‑line technical support to employees and customers, including troubleshooting desktop and server environments, handling AV support for office conferences, and engaging in a regular weekend working rotation.

Location: Office based in London, England

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve customer issues by researching and escalating when necessary.
  • Resolve complex problems related to Canonical’s portfolio of products.
  • Own support cases and ensure they are handled in accordance with our Service Level Agreement to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
  • Engage customers directly via phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions to resolve issues.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
  • Contribute new knowledge‑base articles and maintain existing ones to share lessons learned.
  • Understand the Ubuntu development process to set realistic customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong academic record from high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path.
  • Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting (collecting logs, stack traces, editing configuration files).
  • Experience integrating Linux with authentication/directory services, network file systems, etc.
  • Ability to navigate stack traces and logs and advise on next steps.
  • Solid understanding of OS and application‑level bugs and when to escalated to the correct team.
  • Programming fundamentals in any language.
  • Ability to learn quickly, thrive on change, and handle the pressure of a customer‑facing job.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks.
