This is an application track for a product management position at Canonical on Cloud Native. Scope of the Role

The role is responsible for the commercial strategy and marketing leadership of one of our cloud native operations product areas, including:

  • Juju – the open source orchestration engine for software operators that enables the deployment, integration and lifecycle management of applications at any scale, on any infrastructure using charms.
  • Identity management – defining the way authentication, authorisation and identity governance controls are applied across Ubuntu One SSO and other Canonical products.
  • Observability – outlining the strategy for the way Canonical products and charms perform tracing and are able to discern the underlying system health.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the lifecycle of the product development by reviewing the priorities and goals for the products you are responsible for.
  • Work closely with the engineering leads to oversee the product development process.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing, and sales to address common challenges across projects, align on priorities, make informed decisions, and keep business execution on track.
  • Conduct market research, analyse industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and ensure alignment with Canonical's overall vision.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Establish KPIs for project status reporting and communicate them across Canonical.
  • Drive execution excellence through continuous feedback and improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to create and maintain high‑performing teams.
  • Contribute to the success of our sales team in winning new opportunities by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings.

Qualifications

  • Seasoned product management experience in technical domains related to the usage and/or the management of open source software in the cloud native landscape.
  • Experience designing or managing software operations for large‑scale distributed systems.
  • Good understanding of cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker containers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of common enterprise security and compliance requirements in the area of software operations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive their execution to excellence.
  • Passion to write about technologies and experience in the area of developer marketing.
  • A strong work ethic and personal interests aligned with the open source philosophy.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
