Contextual Overview
Canonical is expanding its in-house legal team, offering an opportunity for a Legal Counsel – Commercial & Technology Transactions . The role involves handling commercial and technology transactions within a globally distributed open-source software environment.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Degree in law (JD or equivalent) with an active license to practice law or current progress toward it.
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and written/spoken English communication skills.
- Passionate about technology with a rigorous work ethic and commercial judgment.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with customers and vendors globally.
- Providing legal support to internal clients, including Canonical's sales organisation.
- Interfacing with cross-functional teams to support corporate initiatives.
- Utilising Canonical’s contract management system to maintain accurate contract data.
- Working alongside local and international legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
Stipend, Compensation & Mode
- Compensation: Competitive base pay with a performance-driven annual bonus or commission, reviewed bi-annually.
- Mode: Distributed remote work environment (EMEA/AMER) with the option of working from the London office, plus international travel 2-4 times a year for company events.
