As Legal Counsel, you will be the dedicated Legal Business Partner for this fast‑evolving area, acting as the primary legal contact for key stakeholders. You will provide commercially focused support across complex legal and regulatory topics, requiring strong autonomy, proactive problem-solving, deep understanding of the business and the ability to contribute to strategic projects, major commercial arrangements and transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities- Act as Legal Business Partner to assigned business leader(s) to deliver Legal capabilities in close connection and collaboration with the country/entity leadership team and the wider EMEA Legal team.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the business operations, risks and opportunities, with demonstrable leadership in enabling and advancing Canon’s success.
- Manage a range of legal matters and tasks, without supervision (except where the subject otherwise requires), which may include a variety of legal issues including contracts, marketing issues (including advertising & promotions), IP, discounts & pricing policies, litigation/dispute management, competition law, anti-corruption, trade control, company secretarial and any other areas of corporate compliance applicable to the entity/RSO/NSO/area of operations.
- Proactively identify legal issues at the earliest opportunity as well as developing and implementing solutions to address them.
- Be the local lead for compliance/risk management strategies, anticipating both legal and business impacts.
- Utilise a range of influencing skills to secure outcomes that are compliant with the law and company policies.
- Develop local Legal practices in the most effective and efficient way to deliver sustainable business growth, mitigate risks and manage compliance.
- Lead the effective use of technology and tools to support legal processes combined with positive business outcomes.
- Deliver local training to enable non-Legal colleagues to understand the relevant legal context, raise awareness of legal issues, develop legal acumen and support and enable colleagues to make best use of legal advice.
- Support the development and delivery of a coherent approach to meeting Canon’s legal requirements in close collaboration with the wider legal team.
- Qualified lawyer, proven post-qualification experience (PQE) with relevant post-qualification experience in commercial law or in-house legal support.
- Experience in IT/Cloud/technology-driven environments.
- Experience in autonomously drafting, reviewing and negotiating IT services, SAAS distribution, software licensing and other standard commercial contracts.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legal areas, particularly data protection and digital regulations, competition law, marketing, and with ability to learn and assimilate as required.
