Responsible for the development and delivery of effective internal and external corporate communications programmes that build understanding of strategic business priorities, strengthen engagement and advocacy, and enhance Canon EMEA's reputation among key audiences.

The starting salary for this role is between £42,500 and £50,000, depending on experience.

This role provides expert communications counsel to senior stakeholders, applying professional judgement to complex challenges and delivering integrated communication strategies that support organisational objectives. Working across a broad range of internal and external channels, the role is accountable for driving impactful communication outcomes, ensuring all messaging is consistent, accurate and aligned to Canon's corporate narrative, brand, tone of voice and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering strategic communications activity that supports Canon EMEA's business objectives, enhances reputation, and engages key internal and external audiences. Key responsibilities include:

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of Regional Sales Headquarters (RHSQ) and EMEA-wide internal communications programme that support business priorities, culture and organisational initiatives.

  • Develop strategic communications plans and audience engagement approaches that ensure complex business information is translated into clear, relevant and impactful communications.

  • Create and deliver high-quality communications content including leadership communications, organisational announcements, communication plans, change communications, executive briefings, Q&As, employee stories and internal campaigns.

  • Provide expert communications guidance to business leaders, HR and functional stakeholders on organisational initiatives, employee engagement activity, change programmes, recognition initiatives and employee experience priorities.

  • Act as a trusted communications specialist, challenging and refining stakeholder requirements where necessary to ensure communications are audience-focused, effective and aligned with Canon's objectives.

  • Lead communications support for employee engagement events and initiatives including annual Kick Off Programme, Town Hall meetings, Talking Business events (webinar events), sponsorships and internal campaigns that help employees connect with Canon’s strategy, purpose, culture and priorities.

External Communications & Corporate/Brand Reputation:

  • Manage and deliver corporate and brand activities to support Canon EMEA’s reputation, strategic positioning and thought leadership objectives.

  • Develop and implement external communications initiatives including corporate storytelling, executive profiling, media engagement, thought leadership, corporate web content and reputation-building programmes.

  • Produce high-quality media materials including press releases, statements, briefing documents, web content, Q&As and corporate content, applying professional judgement to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent and reputationally sound.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop brand storytelling and thought leadership content for both internal and external audiences e.g. Product and technology innovations, Sustainability and IT Security.

  • Monitor and evaluate internal and external communications engagement and channel performance, using insight and feedback to recommend improvements.

Channel Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Manage and optimise Canon EMEA's internal communications channels, including Miru, EMEA News, Viva and digital signage, ensuring governance, relevance, accessibility and user experience standards are maintained.
  • Own editorial planning across internal communications channels, ensuring content is prioritised, coordinated and aligned to business objectives and audience needs.
  • Analyse channel performance, audience engagement and employee feedback to identify trends, evaluate effectiveness and make recommendations to improve communications outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communications processes, governance, tools and ways of working, contributing to greater operational effectiveness and consistency across communications activities.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across business units, functions, national sales organisations and external partners to ensure communications programmes are aligned and impactful.
  • Influence stakeholders through specialist communications expertise, insight and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Act as a communications subject matter expert within the organisation, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing to best practice development across the communications function.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates will need to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Relevant 5+ years' experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations, brand marketing communications, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing communication strategies and plans across multiple audiences and channels.
  • Experience supporting corporate reputation, thought leadership, employee engagement, and organisational change communications.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills, with a strong knowledge of digital communication channels, including SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, AI-enabled communication tools, and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of corporate communications, employee engagement, public relations, and reputation management.
  • Experience working within a complex, matrix organisation with multiple stakeholder groups and external agencies.
  • Experience translating complex business objectives into effective communication strategies and engaging content.
