Overview
You will lead the UK & Ireland Bid Centre and Social Value function, driving profitable bids and nurturing customer relationships. As a senior leader, you’ll manage a team of eight and coordinate with Sales and other functions to craft compelling, customer-focused propositions. You will embed measurable Social Value into bids and grow win rates through strategic, governance-driven bid management. This role combines leadership, commercial acumen and cross-functional collaboration to shape outcomes and value for customers and communities.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Bid Centre and Social Value team to win business and deliver service excellence
- Oversee qualification, development and submission of complex tenders, frameworks, direct awards and strategic proposals
- Develop win themes, value propositions and bid strategies to strengthen competitive position
- Partner with Sales early in opportunity lifecycle to shape strategies and identify routes to winning
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, Service & Support and others to develop robust solutions
- Lead Social Value strategy and partnerships delivering measurable social, environmental and economic impact
- Monitor bid performance using metrics to improve future outcomes
- Maintain and improve bid content library, methodologies and best-practice frameworks
- Ensure bids meet governance, commercial, legal and procurement requirements
- Lead tender debriefs and translate lessons into practical improvements
- Coach and develop team members to build capability and succession
- Stay informed on procurement, frameworks, and Social Value developments to strengthen competitiveness
Key requirements
- Significant experience managing complex bids, tenders or proposals in B2B, technology, services or solutions-led contexts
- Track record of securing profitable business through public/private tenders, frameworks and strategic proposals
- Experience leading, coaching and developing teams and building high-performance culture
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, tender governance, and commercial decision-making
- Excellent written communication and ability to develop persuasive, customer-focused proposals and value propositions
- Strong commercial acumen balancing customer needs, competitiveness, risk and profitability
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders across multiple business functions
- Experience using data and performance measures to drive bid improvements
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience in Social Value, ESG, sustainability or community impact programmes would be valuable
- Degree or equivalent professional experience welcomed; APMP desirable; other related qualifications advantageous
