About the Role
The British High Commission is currently hiring a Political Adviser to join its Political and Bilateral Affairs (PBA) team. Reporting to the Senior Political Adviser and working closely with diplomats, including the British High Commissioner, this position involves monitoring and analyzing major political developments across India. The selected candidate will assess the implications of such events on UK interests and help shape the Commission’s strategic responses to these developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Political Analysis & Reporting (30%): Provide regular written updates on key developments including parliamentary sessions, elections, and internal party movements, with an emphasis on their impact on UK-India relations.
- Research Support (10%): Conduct thematic research and data analysis to assist in-depth reports.
- Event & Visit Coordination (20%): Organize political briefings, prepare logistics for diplomatic visits, and secure meetings.
- Stakeholder Engagement (20%): Build and maintain relationships with politicians, young leaders, bureaucrats, and stakeholders relevant to the UK’s interests.
- Briefing Documentation (20%): Prepare and update background notes, profiles, and political briefs to support the team.
Eligibility Criteria
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills; well-organized and a team player.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken); ability to produce clear and accurate reports.
- Interest in Indian politics, governance, and public policy.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience (government, media, policy, embassies), OR fresh graduates in political science, journalism, or communications with exceptional credentials.
- Confident public speaker with experience working in multicultural environments.
- Familiarity with UK Civil Service Behaviour Framework is preferred.
Salary
₹75,359/month + 12% Provident Fund + 6% Superannuation.
