About the Opportunity
The Crime & Punishment team at Vidhi focuses on strengthening Indiaβs criminal justice system through research on criminalisation, law enforcement, correctional institutions, and criminal law reforms. Vidhi is inviting applications for the position of Project Fellow, based in New Delhi.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality legal, qualitative, and quantitative research on issues related to crime and punishment.
- Collaborate with government officials, civil society groups, academics, and stakeholders to conceptualize reports and draft legislation.
- Prepare research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and research notes.
- Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, consultations, and workshops.
- Contribute articles, blogs, and research papers, create explanatory videos, and participate in podcasts to disseminate research.
- Ideate and execute new research projects, along with communication and outreach activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in law (mandatory).
- 0β2 years of relevant work experience in criminal justice or related research fields (postgraduate degree will be counted as 1 year of experience).
- Strong research, writing, and drafting skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Preferred qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Law, Criminology, or Public Policy.
- Experience working with government officials, civil society organizations, and relevant communities.
- Fieldwork or empirical research experience on the criminal justice system.
- Prior publications in journals or newspapers.
Location & Duration
- Location: New Delhi (Full-time, On-site).
- Duration: 6 months (renewal based on performance).
Remuneration
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
