About the Role
UBS is hiring a Legal Counsel specializing in Employment Law to support its India operations. If you have experience handling employment-related legal matters and enjoy offering strategic legal solutions while working closely with cross-functional teams, this opportunity is tailored for you.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide employment law advice for UBS’s operations across India
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Group Investigations, and various business units to deliver clear and practical legal guidance
- Manage employment litigation and proactively address legal risks and employee-related issues
Team Structure
You will be part of the APAC Employment Legal team, functioning as legal counsel for India and based in Mumbai or Pune. The team covers all business divisions within India and operates in a collaborative and diverse regional structure, reporting to the South Asia team lead.
Required Qualifications & Expertise
- Qualified Indian lawyer with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience
- Demonstrated experience in employment law, ideally within financial services or similar sectors
- In-depth knowledge of Indian labour and employment laws, including HR procedures, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Proven ability to deliver commercial, practical, and legally sound advice aligned with business goals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with comfort in advising stakeholders at all levels, including leadership
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple legal matters under deadlines
- A keen interest in staying up to date with regulatory changes affecting Indian labor laws
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in local languages is a plus but not mandatory
