Purpose of the Internship

The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) offers a structured Internship Programme aimed at law students and recent graduates. This initiative is designed to provide practical exposure to the functioning of the department. Interns receive training in legal research, referencing, court proceedings, and legal advisory across various domains such as constitutional, administrative, finance, infrastructure, economic, labour, arbitration, and contract law.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Indian students who have:
    • Completed 2nd year of a 3-year LLB program, or
    • Completed 3rd year of a 5-year integrated law course, or
    • Graduated with an LLB degree from a recognized university/law school.

Advanced computer proficiency (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.) is preferred.

Internship Duration

The internship typically lasts one month. It begins on the first working day of each month, unless otherwise specified.

Application Process

Applicants must fill out the online application form and upload the required documents. Current students must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their college/university. Law graduates only need to upload their final year certificate. The application form and submission deadline will be available on the official website.

Selection Process

A maximum of 50 interns will be selected each month. Selection will be based on the submitted applications as per guidelines. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via the Internship Portal or email.

Internship Locations

Selected candidates may be placed at the following locations:

  • Main Secretariat, New Delhi
  • Central Agency Section, Supreme Court
  • Litigation HC Section, Delhi
  • Branch Secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru

Certification

Interns will receive a Certificate of Completion upon:

  • Maintaining at least 90% attendance
  • Receiving satisfactory performance feedback from the assigned authority

This is a full-time, in-person internship. Interns must not engage in other academic or work commitments during the internship period.

Honorarium

Interns will receive a stipend of ₹1,000 upon successful completion of the program.
