About the Internship
The Office of Justice K.V. Viswanathan, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, is inviting applications for full-time, in-person judicial internships for the period of September 2025 – December 2025. These internships provide law students with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the functioning of the apex court of the country. Selected interns will be involved in substantive legal research, drafting, and observation of court proceedings under the guidance of the Judge’s office. The program is designed to help students understand the judicial decision-making process, enhance their analytical abilities, and develop essential professional skills within an environment that demands confidentiality, precision, and excellence.
Eligibility
Applications are open to undergraduate law students who are in their 2nd year or above (3-year LL.B.) or 4th year and above (5-year LL.B.), as well as to postgraduate law students. The internship is intended for serious and motivated candidates who wish to deepen their understanding of constitutional and judicial practices. Students with prior experience in research, strong legal writing skills, and a demonstrated interest in litigation or judicial processes will be at an advantage. Roles and Responsibilities
Interns will begin their internship with a structured orientation session that introduces them to office procedures, tools, and policies. They will be provided with templates and protocols to ensure clarity in their work. During the course of the internship, interns will engage in a variety of substantive tasks such as briefing cases, conducting in-depth legal research, drafting notes or memos, and preparing case materials. They will also attend court proceedings, observe judicial deliberations, and take detailed minutes of hearings. Interns are expected to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and professional conduct, ensuring that their work reflects the integrity and excellence associated with the Supreme Court. Internships will commence on the 1st of every month, unless otherwise specified by the office.
