The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) is conducting a nationwide research project titled ‘Platform Cooperatives and Knowledge Commons: Synthesis, Framework, and Findings from Case Studies’. The study requires extensive fieldwork across India, engaging with various stakeholders from selected organizations.

To support this initiative, the institute is hiring one Research Associate and one Research Assistant to assist with data collection and stakeholder interactions.

  • Research Associate
    • Duration: Up to 12 months
    • Salary: ₹30,000–₹36,000 (consolidated, per month)
    • Eligibility: Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc) in subjects like Economic Geography, Sociology, Development Studies, Management, Rural Development, Economics, Digital Humanities, or Computational Social Science
    • Experience: At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Research Assistant
    • Duration: Up to 6 months
    • Salary: ₹25,000–₹30,000 (consolidated, per month)
    • Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Sociology, Economic Geography, or related Humanities and Social Science disciplines
    • Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with stakeholders
  • Handle data transcription, translation, entry, and analysis using software tools like NVivo, Atlas.ti, or Maxqda
  • Extensive travel across India will be required. Travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed according to IIML’s seed project policy

Preferred Experience

  • Prior involvement in field surveys with cooperatives, community-based organizations, or civil society groups is preferred
  • Background in qualitative research in rural India is considered a strong asset
