About the Competition

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, proudly announces the 18th edition of the Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition, scheduled to be held offline from 26th to 28th September 2025 at the NALSAR campus. The competition is organized in collaboration with the Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust and supported by the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy. Over the years, the BRS Moot has gained recognition as one of India’s most prestigious constitutional law moots, attracting teams from premier law schools across the country. It offers students an opportunity to enhance their advocacy skills, research abilities, and understanding of constitutional law through rigorous rounds of oral and written submissions.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. courses or LL.M. postgraduate programs. Each team must belong to a single institution, and a maximum of two teams per institution may register. Teams may consist of two or three members, where two will be speakers and one may serve as a researcher. Teams with only two members will not be eligible for the Researcher’s Test. Substitution of members after the registration deadline will be allowed only in exceptional circumstances with the organizers’ approval. A researcher may argue instead of a speaker only with the court’s permission.

Team Composition

Each team must have at least two members acting as speakers. Teams of three members may include one researcher. No additional members, including observers, will be considered part of the team. Any substitution or role change is subject to organizer approval.

Registration Process

Interested teams can register online via the link provided at the end of the post. The registration fee is ₹8,000, payable through online bank transfer to the account of Registrar, NALSAR (Indian Bank, Shameerpet Branch, Account No. 0418453516, IFSC Code: IDIB000S166).

  • Runners-Up Team: Trophy + ₹50,000
  • Nani Palkhivala Award for Best Speaker: Trophy + ₹50,000
  • Nani Palkhivala Award for Second-Best Speaker: Trophy + ₹20,000
  • Best Speaker in Finals: Trophy + ₹10,000
  • Best Memorial (Petitioner): Trophy + ₹10,000
  • Best Memorial (Respondent): Trophy + ₹10,000
  • Best Researcher: Trophy + ₹10,000
  • Second-Best Researcher: Trophy + ₹7,500

All participants will receive certificates of participation or merit based on performance.

Fee

Each team must pay ₹8,000 as registration fee via online transfer before the deadline for Stage 1 (Memorial Evaluation Rounds).
