Role Overview
We are currently hiring a skilled Legal Counsel to support our operations in India. This position plays a critical role in managing legal matters across contracts, corporate governance, employment law, and privacy compliance. The selected candidate will work closely with our international legal teams to ensure global consistency and also contribute to legal support for our U.S. business activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and review various commercial contracts including vendor, client, and service agreements
- Advise on corporate governance and ensure compliance with Indian company laws and regulations
- Support data privacy efforts including compliance with India’s DPDP Act and global standards like GDPR
- Guide HR and leadership on employment-related matters such as contracts, internal policies, disputes, and terminations
- Coordinate with legal teams in the U.S. and Europe to align policies and processes
- Provide legal support for our U.S. operations, including risk assessment and regulatory compliance
- Keep abreast of legal developments and proactively manage potential legal risks
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal role, ideally in a tech or multinational company
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Indian contract and corporate law
- Privacy frameworks (e.g., DPDP Act, GDPR)
- Indian labor and employment regulations
- Exposure to U.S. or European legal systems is a plus
- Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation abilities
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, startup environment
