AbbVie is looking for a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to support its pharmaceutical operations across India and the broader India region. This role demands strategic legal insight, business acumen, and a collaborative mindset, enabling the individual to provide proactive and impactful legal support in a dynamic, cross‑functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic commercial legal advice for AbbVie’s pharmaceutical business in India and the wider region, in coordination with local and regional teams.
- Actively participate as a member of the India Affiliate Management Team, contributing to planning and business growth initiatives.
- Lead or support strategic legal projects, including those in emerging or complex areas of law or business.
- Offer forward‑thinking legal solutions tailored to AbbVie’s core business needs, assessing risks and long‑term impacts.
- Identify legal risks independently and deliver practical, compliant solutions in line with AbbVie’s internal policies and external regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of contracts, including vendor, distribution, marketing, manufacturing, supply, and healthcare agreements.
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution independently, utilizing external counsel when necessary to achieve the best outcomes.
- Develop standard templates, legal tools, and streamlined processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct legal training for internal teams to ensure awareness and compliance with legal standards and company policies.
Education and Experience
- A law degree from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably including both law firm and in‑house roles within multinational organizations.
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or working with life sciences regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with areas such as antitrust, anti‑bribery compliance, data protection, and intellectual property is an added advantage.
