We are a very popular and successful Church of England Academy of 1,760 students (335 in the Sixth Form). Our students progress onto world‑class universities and institutions to further study or gain apprenticeships and employment. Our aim is to fulfil individual potential and prepare pupils for life in a rapidly changing world by providing an excellent education within a Christian environment. Canon Slade School is a member of the Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi‑academy trust established in 2017. This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other three High Schools in the MAT – St James’s C of E High School, Bolton St Catherine’s Academy and Bury C of E High School: sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.

The Canon Slade Trust is a charity which is independent from the school, but which exists to raise funds to support it. The trustees are volunteers who oversee the finances of the Trust and decide which school projects they should support. Whilst they are independent, the trustees take a keen interest in the school and the Headteacher provides an oversight of school operations at each trustees’ meeting. The Secretary to the Trust provides administrative support to the Trust and ensures compliance with Charity Law.

  • Will quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues.
  • Has the ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet the demands of the role.
  • Has experience of financial administration/clerking or secretarial duties.

  • Provide clerical and organisational support to the Chair and other members of the Canon Slade Trust, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Liaise with other bodies such as the school, HMRC, Charities Commission and the auditors.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Canon Slade Trust on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

IN RETURN, WE OFFER:

  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Access to National College training, subject‑specific CPD, leadership pathways, and mentoring programs.
  • Career Progression: Clear pathways for growth, from early careers to leadership roles.
  • Wellbeing & Support: Leadership training focused on wellbeing, mental health resources, and staff networks.
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, with ongoing EDI training and initiatives.
  • Long weekend off in November for teachers and term time support staff.
