A proactive and strategic PR Specialist to join our EMEA Marketing team. This role is instrumental in shaping Canon's brand reputation across the region through impactful media relations, compelling storytelling, and integrated PR campaigns. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive visibility, thought leadership, and engagement across diverse EMEA markets to proactively support our ITCG/Imaging strategy across our broad range of B2B, B2P and B2C customers.
Responsibilities
- Media Relations & Press Office Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, key opinion leaders, and digital influencers across EMEA. Act as the first point of contact for ITCG media enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Proactively pitch stories to secure high-quality media coverage in priority markets.
- Press Releases & Content Creation: Craft compelling press releases, media pitches, bylines, and thought leadership content that reflect Canon's tone of voice and business priorities. Ensure centrally produced content is easily adaptable and actionable for National and Regional Sales Offices (N/RSOs).
- Product Launches & Campaign Support: Partner with Product Marketing and Marketing strategy team to plan and execute PR activities for new product launches and integrated marketing campaigns. Drive media engagement and coverage around key product and innovation milestones.
- Crisis & Reputation Management: Collaborate with Corporate Communications to prepare and manage communications for sensitive issues and incidents. Advise senior stakeholders on messaging, media handling, and reputational risk mitigation.
- Stakeholder & Agency Management: Manage relationships with PR agencies, freelancers, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact campaigns. Oversee PR budgets and ensure efficient use of resources with measurable ROI.
- Event & Sponsorship PR: Lead PR activation at Canon-hosted and industry events, including media briefings, press kits, and on-site support. Maximise earned media opportunities around sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
- Digital & Social Media Integration: Align PR efforts with digital marketing and social media strategies to amplify reach and engagement. Leverage influencers, digital opinion leaders, and online media to extend Canon's voice across platforms.
- Monitoring, Reporting & Analytics: Track media coverage, campaign performance, sentiment, and share of voice. Present regular reports and insights to leadership. Support local markets in adapting PR content and campaigns to reflect cultural nuances across EMEA.
Qualifications
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of imaging, photography, or tech industry trends is a plus.
- Relevant qualification and/or experience in PR, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
- Excellent media relations and pitching skills.
- Ability to balance creative storytelling with data-driven results.
- Confident communicator, with strong influencing skills across levels.
- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects.
- Culturally aware and adaptable (Canon is global, so international coordination is key).
- Good at building and maintaining relationships across teams.
- Passion for technology, imaging, and innovation.
Experience
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling and proofing skills (press releases, speeches, social copy).
- Proficiency with media monitoring tools.
- Understanding of SEO, digital PR, and social listening.
- Familiarity with analytics/reporting platforms.
- Agency or in-house experience in Technology, Imaging or Consumer Electronics strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in campaign planning and execution (B2B and B2C).

Salary
£38,000 - £44,000 per annum, plus 10% bonus (dependent on experience)
