We are seeking a highly driven, commercially focused Digital Desk-Based Sales Specialist to own and convert a high-volume pipeline of Public Sector reference bids. This role is accountable for transforming inbound bid demand into consistent, high-quality revenue through structured digital engagement, rapid response execution, and disciplined follow-through. Operating as the single point of ownership for low‑touch, repeatable bid opportunities, you will combine consultative selling, commercial rigour, and digital efficiency to improve conversion rates, customer experience, and revenue yield. You will act as the bridge between bid management and sales execution, ensuring every opportunity is handled with precision, pace, and a clear focus on winning.
Responsibilities
- Bid Ownership & Pipeline Management: Take full ownership of a high-volume pipeline (200+ annually) of Public Sector reference bids. Prioritise, qualify, and manage all incoming opportunities with speed and consistency. Ensure all bids are progressed through a structured, measurable sales process with clear accountability. Maintain rigorous pipeline hygiene, forecasting accuracy, and CRM discipline.
- Digital Client Engagement & Conversion: Engage Public Sector customers using digital‑first channels (email, Teams, phone, virtual demos). Build credibility quickly through clear, confident, and outcome‑focused communication. Drive progression from enquiry → proposal → close with proactive follow‑ups and clear next steps. Deliver a professional, consistent customer experience that enhances brand perception.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Execute a repeatable, high‑conversion “bid‑to‑win” playbook. Apply strong commercial positioning and pricing discipline to maximise win rates and margin. Create and deliver compelling, tailored proposals that clearly articulate value. Achieve and exceed conversion and revenue targets (targeting significant uplift in win rates from ~16% to 35%).
- Consultative & Solution Selling: Understand customer requirements and translate them into tailored, value‑driven solutions. Position digital information management and IT solutions in terms of efficiency gains, cost reduction, compliance and governance, and end‑user experience. Act as a trusted advisor, even within short‑cycle, transactional engagements.
- Bid Governance & Cross‑Functional Alignment: Work in close alignment with the bid team to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency. Maintain adherence to Public Sector frameworks, procurement rules, and governance standards. Provide feedback loops on win/loss trends to continuously optimise approach and messaging.
- Performance Optimisation & Continuous Improvement: Analyse conversion data to identify trends and improve win rates. Refine messaging, pricing strategies, and engagement techniques based on outcomes. Drive efficiency through standardisation, repeatability, and process excellence.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven success in B2B digital or desk‑based sales, ideally within IT, services, or solutions. Experience working with Public Sector customers or bid‑driven sales environments. Demonstrated ability to manage high‑volume transactional pipelines while delivering consistent results.
- Skills & Capabilities: Strong consultative and solution‑selling capability. Excellent digital communication and remote selling skills. Commercial acumen with confidence in pricing, negotiation, and closing. Ability to simplify and articulate technical solutions into business outcomes. High level of organisation, attention to detail, and process discipline.
- Behavioural Competencies: Ownership mindset with clear accountability for results. Resilience and persistence in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Data‑driven decision making and continuous improvement focus. Strong collaboration across sales, bid, and support teams. Confidence to operate autonomously while delivering consistent outcomes.
