Role overview
Do you want to work for a Council that is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its residents? A great opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Practitioner to work as a housing standards specialist within our Regulatory Services team.
You will be providing both a proactive and reactive customer focused service, delivering projects and carrying out statutory duties relating to: licensing of houses in multiple occupation; housing inspections and enforcement; housing assistance and advice; empty homes; energy efficiency, tenancy relations and mobile homes.
You should be self-motivated and confident with a sound knowledge of surveying domestic premises to identify defects and their remedies, including experience of using the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System. You should have a good understanding of the powers available to Local Authorities to ensure standards in private dwellings and their application.
Essential requirements
- We are looking for candidates with an Environmental Health qualification who either have or are working towards their CIEH accreditation.
- Candidates must have experience in property inspection or be able to demonstrate practical skills in this area of work.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with the public and a range of professionals.
- We are looking for flexible candidates who can work on their own initiative and as part of a team to deliver excellent services for our residents.
