A well-established manufacturing business in Tayside is looking for a senior Quality professional to play a key role in its Site Leadership Team and shape how quality is delivered across the business, not just how it's policed. This is a role for someone who leads from principle rather than procedure. You'll understand why a quality system works the way it does, not just how to keep it running, and you'll build the kind of cross functional buy in that means other teams want to work with Quality rather than around it.
You'll take ownership of the full quality picture: the management system itself, customer and supplier quality, audit readiness, and the development of the local team. Customers will deal with you directly on escalations and corrective actions, and you'll treat pushback on quality processes as useful information rather than something to overcome.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning the Quality function and setting direction alongside the wider Site Leadership Team
- Leading and developing a team of engineers, auditors, and inspectors
- Acting as the main customer contact for quality escalations and corrective action
- Running internal, external, and customer audits from planning through to closure
- Driving root cause and preventive action work using structured problem-solving methods
- Building KPIs and dashboards that genuinely inform business decisions
- Partnering with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and EHS on product quality
- Leading transformation initiatives across the quality organisation
What you'll bring:
- A degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline
- Ten or more years in Quality roles within regulated manufacturing
- At least five years leading Quality teams, including managing other leaders
- A strong track record building and running Quality Management Systems
- Confidence with 8D, 5 Why, CAPA, and other root cause tools
- Proven influence across a matrix organisation and multiple business levels
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or aerospace would be an advantage, along with familiarity with AS9100 and customer complaint investigation.
This is a strategic leadership role with real scope to shape how quality is done, not simply maintain what's already in place.
