This is a Depot Manager role with a long-established wholesale distribution business in Perthshire, and it comes with real operational ownership from day one. You will be a senior member of the team, working directly alongside the Site Director to drive performance across a busy warehouse and delivery operation.
Around 12 people report into this role, including warehouse staff and drivers, and you'll be expected to lead from the floor rather than manage from behind a desk. The role has a specific set of requirements that will determine fit more than anything else.
- Practical experience managing O Licence compliance for a small vehicle fleet, including audits every six months and routine servicing obligations.
- Route planning experience is important as you'll be managing two internal vehicles while making smart outsourcing decisions on the remaining deliveries.
- The expectation is to keep courier costs down without letting service standards slip.
- Import and export experience via the Trader Support Service (TSS) is essential, handling the movement of goods between Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.
- Health and Safety ownership includes annual audits, staff training coordination, and maintaining warehouse standards.
- On-site equipment and waste management, including recycling processes and relevant tax obligations, also fall within your remit.
The person who fits this role is highly organised, cost aware, and comfortable moving between floor level operational standards and the regulatory side of running a distribution operation. If you're the type who notices problems early, fixes them without drama, and takes genuine pride in an operation that runs well, this is worth serious consideration.
