An industrial production site in Inverness-shire is hiring a Maintenance Fitter with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical repairs. This is a hands-on role for someone who's spent time on the tools in a fast-paced production environment and knows their way around pumps, gearboxes, bearings and chains. You'll be joining a small maintenance team responsible for keeping production equipment running with minimal downtime. It's varied, practical work across mechanical and hydraulic systems, with real ownership over the preventative maintenance you put in place. The role works a four-week rotating pattern of day shifts and night shifts, 42 hours a week, with a 30% night shift allowance on top of your base rate.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out preventative maintenance on hydraulic and mechanical equipment across the site
- Repairing and rebuilding hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, pumps and gearboxes
- Fault finding, troubleshooting and repairing production machinery
- Welding, cutting and grinding as required
- Working to risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times
- Supporting colleagues across the maintenance and production teams
- Contributing to team meetings on production and maintenance issues
- Taking part in ongoing training to keep skills current
What you'll bring:
- Time served as a Maintenance Fitter, or solid mechanical experience gained in an industrial setting
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems
- Experience with bearings, belts, chains, pumps and gearboxes
- Confidence with fault finding, troubleshooting and repair work
- Computer literacy for maintenance records and reporting
