Puppy Trainer

To help us create amazing partnerships, we need amazing people. Canine Partners has an exciting opportunity for a Puppy Training Coordinator to join our Puppy Training team. This is an incredible role at a prominent assistance dog charity where your role will sit at the heart of our essential work that transform lives every day. What you will do: In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, managing and supporting our network of puppy parent volunteers, who carry out the day-to-day training of our puppies and dogs. You will ensure that our puppies and dogs receive appropriate socialisation and training before they enter advanced assistance dog training. You will be a keen ambassador for using up to date positive reinforcement training methods. What we are looking for: • Experience of working with puppies. • Good working knowledge of best practice dog training and behaviour. • Good practical dog handling and training skills. • Effective interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills. • Coaching/ Teaching skills. • Accurate record keeping skills. • Computer literacy/ IT skills (MS Officer – minimum requirement basic level) It may be advantageous, but not essential, for you to have a relevant Animal Behaviour and Training Council – Animal Training Instructor (ABTC-ATI) accreditation. This role covers a specified geographical location in the Southeast of England in East Berkshire or North Hampshire. The attached map illustrates an approximate location, however the final satellite boundaries will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. The role requires regular travel to carry out visits, training sessions and to transport puppies and dogs, it is therefore essential that you have a driving licence and appropriate vehicle for work purposes and the ability to travel in line with the requirements for the role. We will provide a laptop and mobile phone for use in the role. Business travel will be claimable at a rate of 45p per mile.
