Canford Law is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Litigation Executive / Solicitor / Legal Executive to join our Credit Hire team on the Defendant side. You will manage a varied caseload of claims arising predominantly from Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) from instruction through to conclusion, working with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage your own Defendant caseload from instruction to conclusion, including pre-litigation and full litigation stages.
- Conduct thorough investigations and evidential analysis to build and defend cases effectively.
- Provide clear, practical and timely legal advice to clients and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of each matter.
- Prepare and file court documents, draft pleadings, disclosure, witness statements and other litigation paperwork in line with Civil Procedure Rules and client instructions.
- Negotiate settlements and pursue case resolution through alternative dispute resolution where appropriate, and represent clients at trial when required.
- Use our purpose-built case management system to manage daily tasks, prioritise work and maintain accurate, up-to-date file records — ensuring every file touch adds value.
- Work to achieve performance targets, manage case budgets and ensure matters progress efficiently and to a high standard.
- Liaise with experts, barristers, insurers and third parties to obtain evidence, instructions and expert opinion.
- Provide excellent client care, maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely communication.
- Identify process improvements, share best practice with the team and contribute to a collaborative working culture.
What We’re Looking For:
- Enthusiastic individuals with a positive, can-do attitude who thrive in a fast-paced, supportive, and competitive environment.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in Credit Hire, RTA (defendant-side experience essential).
- Proven experience managing files from instruction through to conclusion, including pre-litigation and court proceedings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
- Strong client care skills and a professional approach to client management.
- Good administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.
- Comfortable working with case management systems and common office software.
- Right to work in the UK.
