Canford Law is seeking an experienced Credit Hire Solicitor to join our growing Credit Hire team. In this role you will manage a personal caseload from pre-litigation through the full litigation process, supporting and guiding clients to achieve successful outcomes through negotiation or trial. You will work autonomously while benefiting from a collaborative, supportive team environment and our purpose-built case management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a personal caseload of Credit Hire / RTA / litigation matters with a high level of autonomy.
  • Conduct pre-litigation case preparation, issue court proceedings, and progress matters through to trial when necessary.
  • Ongoing review prospects of success, provide clear, professional guidance and regular updates to clients throughout the lifecycle of their claim.
  • Gather and review evidence, draft pleadings, draft/manage disclosure, draft witness statements, prepare and check trial bundles, draft brief to Counsel.
  • Negotiate settlements and prepare invoicing, manage instructions to counsel when appropriate.
  • Use the firm’s case management system to record activity, manage deadlines, and ensure timely progression of files.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant practice rules, regulatory requirements and Firm procedures.
  • Work with colleagues across departments to pro-actively drive case outcomes and deliver excellent client care.
  • Identify issues and propose pragmatic, cost‑effective solutions for clients and the business.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3+ PQE in Credit Hire Litigation.
  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently and progress files from pre‑litigation to trial.
  • Excellent client care skills with a professional, empathetic manner.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills, including diary and deadline management.
  • Confident user of case management systems and standard office software.
  • A strong desire to succeed and thrive in a fast‑paced, competitive environment.
  • Right to work in the UK.
