Canford Law are seeking a Credit Hire Paralegal to join our Glasgow office. This is a full-time, hybrid role offering excellent hands-on experience for candidates wishing to build a career in Credit Hire and Litigation. The successful candidate will support fee earners and the Credit Hire team by handling client enquiries, gathering evidence, and setting up new matters on the case management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the fee earner/solicitor on a full caseload and support case preparation.
- Make outbound calls to potential clients to obtain instructions and develop leads.
- Handle inbound telephone enquiries in a professional, empathetic and client-focused manner.
- Assess information and evidence provided to assist in determining prospects of success (under supervision).
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of all client interactions and case updates.
- Work with autonomy on your own caseload from pre-litigation through the entire litigation process.
- Assist clients and give guidance throughout whilst obtaining all the relevant information required to progress the claim.
- Manage daily tasks through our purpose-built case management system making every file touch count, using your skills and knowledge to successfully settle the claim whether this be through negotiation or litigation.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within Credit Hire / RTA or Litigation.
- Knowledge of Simple Procedure Claims.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a confident, professional telephone manner.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping and document handling.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency using computer systems and willingness to learn legal case management software.
- Good problem-solving ability and a professional, client-focused approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take direction from fee earners and supervisors.
- Previous housing disrepair experience or exposure to housing law matters.
- Previous property or litigation experience in a similar paralegal or legal assistant role.
- Experience using legal case management systems and document management tools.
- Right to work in the UK.
