Job Purpose: To carry out Grounds Maintenance activities as per the Company’s requirements and specification. As part of the role, you will be required to undertake a variety of Grounds Maintenance duties, walk long distances, work outdoors in all weathers and work seasonal and fixed 5/7 shift patterns to suit the nature of the job and contract requirements.
Accountabilities:
- Working individually or as part of a team to conduct Grounds Maintenance activities, following the Company’s prepared schedules and to agreed quality standards.
- To carry out programme works as part of the maintenance regime on a daily/weekly/monthly basis with skills and knowledge of all machinery aspects of the job.
- To undertake duties in any service area of the Grounds Maintenance Contract, e.g. horticultural, grass cutting, cemeteries etc.
- To understand Contract requirements, the specification of all grounds works, the facilities within the various locations and the varying ground conditions within the contract area.
- To identify and understand key performance indicators and ensure that these are met.
- To regularly report to your line manager progress on works and any matters which arise affecting service delivery.
- To work as part of the team, putting forward suggestions and ideas for improvements in service provision.
- General cleaning and maintenance of equipment and reporting of defects or repairs, or any possible hazards in the workplace to a Supervisor.
- Completion of documentation such as work/time sheets, incident reports etc.
- To undergo specific training to improve skill levels and knowledge of service requirements and undertaking defined training as identified as being required or available to meet service delivery changes, Company Policy or statutory/legal changes.
- To always remain polite and respectful with all colleagues, members of the public and client representatives.
- To maintain a presentable appearance and always wear issued PPE and uniform.
- To comply with Company safety rules and Health and Safety at Work requirements.
- Carrying out any other relevant operational duties or tasks relating to Grounds Maintenance Services or any other Company services that may be required.
Knowledge:
- Have a basic knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety and can follow Health & Safety Procedures.
- Local knowledge of the Canterbury Council Area, including Whitstable and Herne Bay (desirable).
Skills:
- Have basic communication skills, including written word.
- Be able to operate mechanical equipment, after instruction.
- Flexibility to work in all Grounds Maintenance areas.
- Reliable timekeeper and team player.
- Ability to deal with the public in a calm and polite manner.
Experience:
- Some previous experience in Grounds Maintenance operations (desirable).
- Minimum NVQ2 Horticulture (desirable).
- Driving License (essential).
