The Finance Manager at Candy Kittens is responsible for the accounting, reconciliation and reporting inputs for Candy Kittens (including Smittens and Treets), Shades and the group holding companies. You will work closely with the Head of Finance to complete all management accounting activities. Vital parts of this role include:
- Proactively preparing accounts and reconciliations for an efficient month-end close and reporting cycle.
- Being the first line of review and control for spending.
- Preparing high-quality analysis for commercial decision-making.
Specific Goals For The Role:
- Identifying process efficiency opportunities and ways to automate.
- Supporting the Head of Finance to ready systems and processes for significant growth from a ~£30m company to £100m+ company.
You will report to the Head of Finance and work closely with the CFO to drive performance and growth of Candy Kittens. This position offers a broad role within a high-growth environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end revenue completeness, from EDI portal processing and direct grocery customer interactions through to collections and credit control.
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and sign-off of key documentation, including inventory accounting and batch payment runs.
- Reconcile ledgers, balance sheets, and bank accounts regularly to ensure clean, reliable data.
- Review and manage staff expenses, costs, and payments to keep spending controlled and compliant.
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns and statutory reporting.
- Contribute to internal and external financial reporting.
- Prepare for and actively support financial audits.
- Maintain a robust financial control environment to reduce risk.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and develop actionable plans.
Skills:
- Professional progression through hands-on experience in a similar role, with experience of sales into grocery.
- Nearly or recently qualified candidates are preferred.
- Broad experience of all aspects of management accounting, including AR, AP, and GL, plus reporting is essential.
- Familiarity with Xero and Unleashed is important.
- The successful candidate will be diligent, detail-focused, highly organised, and possess strong communication skills.
- The role will appeal to a self-starter who can contribute to the transformation of finance operations while retaining a firm grasp of core operational disciplines.
