As General Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of a small, successful waste management organisation, ensuring its financial health, operational efficiency, and environmental compliance. This role involves managing staff, budgets, and external relationships while implementing policies and procedures to achieve company goals and meet regulatory requirements along with contributing to its commercial growth by way of business development.
Some of your responsibilities will be but not limited to:
- Strategic Planning & Goal Setting: Develop and execute long-term and short-term plans for the waste management operation, aligning with company objectives.
- Operational Management: Oversee aspects of waste collection, processing, and disposal, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets, track expenses, and implement strategies to optimise profitability.
- Employee Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations adhere to environmental regulations, industry standards, and waste management policies.
- Quality and Performance: Monitor the quality of waste management services, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance performance.
- Safety: Implement and maintain safety programs to ensure the well-being of employees and the public.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors for services like waste transportation and processing.
