We are seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing technology team, taking ownership of a modern Azure environment while helping to shape its future. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining, improving, and securing critical cloud infrastructure, working closely with senior leadership to deliver a resilient and scalable platform.
Offering a salary of £60,000–£95,000, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Azure professional who enjoys taking ownership, driving technical improvements, and working across a broad range of cloud technologies in a collaborative environment.
What is Required?
- You will have a solid understanding of Azure IaaS, including Virtual Machines, VNets, NSGs, routing, backup, and monitoring, alongside practical experience with Azure networking, VPNs, and Private Endpoints.
- The ideal candidate will have experience implementing cloud security best practices, including hardening, patching, logging, and Microsoft Defender, as well as the ability to document existing environments and technical processes.
- You should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of technical decisions, and driving infrastructure improvements.
- Experience with Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Microsoft 365, Intune, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep), and Microsoft Sentinel would be highly desirable.
What are your responsibilities?
- Take ownership of the Azure cloud platform and day-to-day infrastructure management.
- Manage and maintain Azure IaaS, including Virtual Machines, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
- Enhance platform security through hardening, patch management, Microsoft Defender recommendations, and proactive monitoring.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Support Microsoft 365 and associated cloud services where required.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate priorities, technical recommendations, and project progress.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, and security across the Azure estate.
- Lead infrastructure improvements and make informed technical decisions to support long-term business objectives.
