We’re hiring a standalone Systems Developer to take ownership of a complex backend integration landscape within a high-volume e-commerce environment. This role sits at a pivotal moment: the systems need modernising, simplifying, and rethinking. You’ll be given the autonomy to challenge legacy processes, redesign architecture, and build scalable, cloud-native integrations that underpin the business.

This is a hands-on role with strategic influence, working closely with senior stakeholders and with a clear opportunity to grow a team around you as the function evolves. This is for someone who wants autonomy, influence, and ownership.

The mission:

You will re-architect and modernise how the business connects its systems, from Magento to WMS, ERP and Finance, building scalable, cloud-native integration services that power high-volume trading.

  • Own the backend integration landscape end-to-end
  • Redesign legacy processes and replace them with clean, modern architecture
  • Build Golang-based microservices and middleware to connect Magento with WMS, ERP and finance systems
  • Create real-time order, stock and warehouse sync services
  • Introduce modern engineering standards, tooling and best practice
  • Act as the technical bridge between engineering, operations, and senior stakeholders
  • Shape the future roadmap, with scope to build and lead a team as the function grows

What you’ll bring:

  • Core 5+ years commercial backend development
  • Strong Golang experience (or production-level exposure + desire to specialise)
  • Experience integrating Magento with enterprise systems
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills
  • Experience building scalable, event-driven or middleware platforms

Architecture & Engineering:

  • Clean / Hexagonal Architecture
  • Domain-Driven Design
  • Event-driven & message-based systems
  • Docker & containerised services
  • AWS (EC2, Lambda, SQS, RDS) or similar
  • Monitoring & observability tools

The personality fit:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Confident and proactive
  • Personable and credible with stakeholders
  • Energised by variety and ownership
  • Excited by complexity, scale, and impact

You’ll work daily with engineers, warehouse teams, product leaders and the SLT, so communication matters as much as code.

Package:

  • 10% bonus
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Birthday off
  • Hybrid working (3 days onsite to start)
  • Career-defining ownership & future leadership scope

45-minute technical discussion with the hiring manager.
