This established business is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join its internal IT team based in London Bridge. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys working across a broad range of infrastructure technologies within a hands-on, project-focused environment.
Working as part of a small but experienced IT team, you will take ownership of 3rd-line support issues, infrastructure improvements and key technology projects that support the wider business. The role offers significant exposure to both operational support and strategic infrastructure initiatives.
For the first six months, you will be expected to work primarily from the London office to support onboarding, knowledge transfer and team collaboration.
The Role:
No two days are the same in this position. You’ll be joining a collaborative IT team where you’ll have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of technologies, projects and support activities. One day you may be leading an infrastructure deployment, cloud migration or platform upgrade project, while the next could involve troubleshooting a complex escalation, improving security controls or assisting with a business-critical operational issue. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in being a true all-round infrastructure engineer. They’re looking for someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, enjoys getting involved wherever needed and is happy balancing project delivery with operational support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the final point of escalation for technical issues that cannot be resolved by the wider support team.
- Deliver and support a broad range of infrastructure and technology projects.
- Maintain, upgrade and improve core infrastructure platforms.
- Prepare, install and manage new infrastructure hardware and systems.
- Monitor systems, investigate alerts and proactively resolve issues.
- Deliver infrastructure maintenance, patching and upgrade activities.
- Contribute to documentation, process improvement and best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience supporting Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Experience deploying, managing and troubleshooting VPN technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Hyper-V administration and virtualisation.
- Excellent networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Nutanix is desirable.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure and services is desirable.
- Experience operating as a 3rd-line Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar senior technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within small to medium-sized business environments.
