An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automation Engineer to join an established software engineering team developing a large-scale, business-critical platform. The successful candidate will take ownership of designing and building a modern automation framework from the ground up, helping to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of a complex distributed system. Working alongside experienced software engineers, architects and DevOps professionals, they will play a key role in embedding automation throughout the software delivery lifecycle. This position would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable automation frameworks and working with modern cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a C#-based test automation framework from scratch.
- Develop automated tests for APIs and service-level functionality.
- Validate asynchronous and event-driven workflows across distributed services.
- Test complex end-to-end business processes.
- Verify data integrity across relational and NoSQL databases.
- Validate service contracts and data transformations.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Support software quality across Development, Test, Staging and Production environments.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex cross-service issues.
- Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability and performance.
- Ensure clear reporting, traceability and auditability of automated test execution.
Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET test automation.
- Proven experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Experience testing distributed or microservices-based applications.
- Strong API and testing experience.
- Experience working with event-driven or message-based architectures.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and data validation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using NUnit or MSTest.
- Experience with RestSharp.
- Experience working within containerised or virtualised environments.
