Candour Talent are recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their client’s team in Port Talbot.

- Working Hours: Days Mon-Fri

Our client is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Port Talbot. This is a hands-on role at a well-established manufacturing site in the area. The ideal candidate will be qualified to HNC/HND level in Mechanical engineering (or extensive hands-on experience), have senior level or team leadership experience, and proven success working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. Some reasonable out of hours assistance may be required for this role.
The Role:
- Establish and follow a Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme
- Timely and effective fault finding and emergency repairs in response to any breakdowns
- Maintain reports, records, and online system
- Supervise Shift Engineers, Apprentices and Contractors
- Complete root cause analysis of reoccurring issues
- Liaise with other departments as required
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all H&S and compliance standards
The Ideal Candidate:
- HNC/HND Mechanical engineering and/or extensive and demonstrable experience in a maintenance engineering role
- Basic electrical and pneumatic maintenance experience and/or knowledge
- Proven maintenance experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
- Team Leadership and/or People Management experience
- Machining and welding skills (desirable)
- CAD knowledge and/or experience (desirable)
