Candour Talent are recruiting a Roof Cleaning and Maintenance Technician to join their client’s team in the Newport area.
- Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
- Salary: Circa £28-30k basic + OT
Our client is looking for a Roof Cleaning and Maintenance Technician to join their current team. The ideal candidate would be based in the Newport area and cover a patch across the M4 corridor. This role will be tasked with carrying out reactive and proactive roof gutter cleaning and maintenance at various commercial sites. You will follow a schedule of planned works to ensure works are always complete on time and to the highest standard. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility to work unsociable hours and weekends is required, as work is needed to be completed outside of retail operating hours. These hours will be compensated at a higher rate of pay.
The Role:
- Assess the requirements of the job and carry out cleaning and repairs works to roof gutter systems.
- Prioritise cleaning, maintenance, and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
- Identify defects and communicate issues to the Supervisor.
- Ensure all necessary tools and equipment for each job are available and in good condition.
- Update online system with works completed each day.
- Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
- Ensure company vehicle is kept clean, well maintained and serviced as required.
- Work individually on maintenance tasks assigned as requested by supervisor.
- Carry out PPMs on commercial guttering and inspections on mechanical fall protection equipment as per manufacturers specifications.
- Correctly dispose of any waste.
- Safely and effectively operate MEWP. (1B, 3A and 3B)
- Address minor fabric issues.
- Adhere to the out of hours on call rota, as required.
- Ensure the correct and timely completion of paperwork, and site logbooks, where applicable.
- Coordinate any required job extensions with management and the Helpdesk.
- Demonstrate basic problem-solving techniques to identify root cause of issues.
- Attend training courses as and when necessary.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous roof maintenance experience
- Working at height, including harness training
- IPAF, preferred
- SSSTS or SMSTS, desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- Clean driving licence
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, Permit to Work procedures, and Safe Systems of Work.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and results focused.
