Candour Talent are recruiting a Commercial Roofing Team leader to join their client’s team in the Newport area.

  • Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
  • Salary: Circa £32k basic + OT

Our client is looking for a Commercial Roofing Team leader to join their current team. The ideal candidate would be based in the Newport area and cover a patch across the M4 corridor. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility to work unsociable hours and weekends is required, as work is to be completed outside of retail operating hours. These hours will be compensated at a higher rate of pay.

The Role:

  • Support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive roofing works by supervising and working alongside our in-house roofing technician team.
  • Oversee and complete day-to-day tasks: roof gutter cleaning, mechanical fall protection equipment inspections, and general roofing maintenance works.
  • Through a hands-on leadership approach, ensure daily works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed schedules and company standards.
  • Promote compliance with all health and safety procedures, including POWRAs, permits to work, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Provide operational support to the Commercial Roofing Manager by coordinating daily activities, daily attendance and time on site, identifying issues, and escalating where required.
  • Contribute to maintaining strong customer relationships by ensuring a professional standard of service and accurate completion of all associated documentation.
  • Update online system with works completed each day.
  • Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure company vehicle is kept clean, well maintained and serviced as required.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced in estimating roof works.
  • Experience in the use of mechanical fall protection systems.
  • Working at height, including harness training.
  • Experience in the testing of mechanical fall protection systems, preferred.
  • IPAF, preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Permit to Work procedures, and Safe Systems of Work.
  • IT literate.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and results focused.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Positive role model and leader.
  • Commercial awareness.
