Candour Talent are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer to join their client’s team in Ebbw Vale.

  • Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
  • Working Hours: Mon-Fri – 3-shift pattern (Mornings, Afternoons, Nights)
  • Salary: Circa £40k + OT

After a period of sustained growth and major investment, our client is looking for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical bias) to join their team in the Ebbw Vale area. The successful candidate will be joining a world-leading manufacturer renowned for product quality and industry-leading standards and would be part of a small engineering team that oversees the smooth running of production operations in the manufacturing facility. It is an exciting time to join the company, and this role comes with long-term security and growth opportunities.

Previous maintenance engineering is essential, and experience in heavy industry is an advantage. Please note that this role requires demanding personal protective equipment (PPE), access to communal shower facilities, the successful completion of pre-employment medical assessments, and regular drug/alcohol testing.

The Role:

  • Work in a small engineering team to follow a Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme on a range of production machinery, including conveyor systems, fillers, ovens, and automated machinery
  • Fault finding and emergency repairs to resume production as soon as possible in the event of any breakdowns
  • Upgrade and maintain existing equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Help with the installation of new equipment
  • Provide additional support to the project department when needed
  • Complete welding and fabrication tasks, as required
  • Adhere to H&S and compliance standards onsite

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Relevant engineering-related qualification, ie NVQL3/HNC/HND Mechanical engineering, and/or extensive and demonstrable hands-on experience in a maintenance engineering role
  • Pneumatic systems maintenance experience
  • Basic welding and fabricating skills
  • Some machine shop and tool room skills, such as lathes, milling equipment, drills, cutting, burning and welding, an advantage
  • Maintenance experience in a hazardous environment or heavy industry preferred
