- Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
- Working Hours: Mon-Fri Days (potentially moving to Days/Afternoons)
- Salary: Basic Pay negotiable up to circa £32k
- Holidays: 25+8 with the option to purchase additional days
Our client is looking for an experienced Machine Operator (SMT) to join their team in Cwmbran. Part of a high-performance production team, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating SMT (surface mount technology) machinery to produce goods according to specifications. You will also be required to monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning and quality output. This is an excellent opportunity, which comes with a range of benefits and long-term development.
The Role:
- Operates and controls manufacturing machines to produce products efficiently.
- Accountable for handling the established process and the process parameters carefully and diligently.
- Monitors machine performance and adjusts settings to maintain product quality.
- Visual product control and use of measuring tools.
- Performs routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Loads raw materials into machines and ensures continuous production flow.
- Identifies and troubleshoots mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Records production data and reports any discrepancies to supervisors.
- Follows safety protocols and maintains a clean work environment.
- Supports with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supports production during pilot runs and starting up new equipment.
- Coaches and mentors less experienced workers to help them use production equipment or resolve problems.
- This role is responsible to set and operate a machine for the purpose of assembling and processing individual products, converting raw material into semi or finished products.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous SMT manufacturing experience in a similar role.
- Relevant qualification, training, or experience to be able to understand machine operations and technical drawings.
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience operating and setting up manufacturing machines, performing basic maintenance, and adhering to production processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Certification, training, or experience in machine operation safety and basic maintenance.
- A valid forklift operator license (desirable).
