Candour Talent are recruiting a Quality Manager to join their client’s team in Blackwood.

  • Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent
  • Working Hours: Mon-Fri – 39hrs
  • Salary: £35k DOE NEG

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to join our client’s team in Blackwood. Quality experience within a Food Manufacturing environment is essential for this role.

The Role:

  • To plan, organise and manage the Quality Assurance within the site ensuring full implementation of the Quality Manual Procedures, including HACCP and QA procedures to the required company standard.
  • To ensure site compliance with and maintain certification to the relevant BRC standard and Quality Management System.
  • To ensure that all customer visits to the factory are efficiently accompanied, and that all necessary preparation is carried out to ensure that the visit is successful in all audit respects.
  • To assist with development and production in supporting the introduction and implementation of all new products.
  • To be responsible for the reviewing of the Quality Manual and all product specifications for both finished goods and raw materials.
  • To help regulate and develop quality control processes to ensure that you are driving food safety and quality standards and maximising benefit to the business.
  • To be involved in all organoleptic testing of finished products.
  • To plan a review audit and risk assessment programme, for all relevant sections of the Quality Manual and BRC including product and process control and glass and hard plastic.
  • To undertake internal BRC Section and QA audits when required. Ensure that records are kept, and action points are progressed in a timely fashion.
  • To receive and log and respond to all customer complaints, using all available resources, in a timely and effective manner.
  • To assist the Technical Manager in ensuring that the company understands and adheres to all current and new legislation and environmental issues that affect the company.
  • To ensure that the agreed finished product quality is always achieved in production.
  • To investigate any production issues relating to ingredients, establish the cause and ensure that technically sound solutions are quickly introduced to resolve the problem.
  • To manage and update the Technical Department KPI reports for the Technical Manager.
  • To complete any Customer based required internal assessment audit reports, and any customer-based specification and Certificate of Analysis requests.
  • To assist the Technical Manager with any customer or supplier external audits.
  • To provide cover for the Technical Manager in their absence.
  • To lead and coordinate the daily workload of the QA team to ensure that the QA service provided is meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • To coordinate projects as guided by the Technical Manager.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a Quality Manager / Technical role.
  • Food Safety Level 3 in Manufacturing.
  • HACCP Level 3.
  • Understanding of BRC, Quality Management Systems and Customer requirements.
  • Non-Conformance techniques will be required alongside basic allergen awareness and legal labelling practice.
  • IT proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and report writing skills with strong attention to detail and ability to communicate with data and facts.
