Candour Talent are recruiting a Factory Manager to join their client's team in Blackwood.
Employment Type: Permanent/Full Time
Working Hours: Mon - Thurs 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–15:30 (some flexibility required to cover shifts)
Salary: £55 - £65k (DOE)

Role Summary
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Factory Manager to join a growth and dynamic food manufacturing company in Blackwood. The successful candidate will oversee two rapidly growing nutritional food manufacturing facilities to ensure efficient production processes, compliance with company strategy, and achievement of business objectives. You will lead, train, and motivate teams to deliver high-quality results while fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and excellence. Previous experience in food manufacturing is essential.
Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations across two manufacturing sites. Ensure production targets are met and collaborate with senior management on planning and resource allocation.
- Process Improvement: Streamline workflows, reduce waste, and drive productivity improvements. Implement lean tools, KPIs, and visual management to enhance performance.
- People Management: Lead and develop a growing team, including production and shift managers. Build a flexible, multi-skilled workforce through training and motivation. Foster a culture of respect, teamwork, and professionalism aligned with company values.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote a 'Safety First' culture and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols. Oversee food safety standards and compliance with HACCP requirements. Prepare and present production reports to senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading teams and delivering measurable results.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience driving safety initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills with commercial awareness.
- Expertise in problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Toyota).
- Previous managerial experience with HR process knowledge.
- Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 certifications.
- Experience with external audits and compliance standards.
- People management qualification (Level 5 or higher, e.g., ILM or NVQ).
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving approach.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- Skilled in building positive, collaborative relationships.
