I’m currently working with a top ecommerce agency specialising in innovative and scalable Magento solutions. They’re looking for a Senior Magento Backend Developer to join their team and work on challenging Magento projects for major global brands.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining custom Magento 2 modules and extensions, ensuring seamless third-party integrations, and optimising backend performance. You’ll collaborate closely with frontend developers, designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality ecommerce platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom Magento 2 modules and extensions aligned with business needs
  • Work with APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations to ensure smooth data flow
  • Optimise Magento backend performance (database queries, caching, load times)
  • Troubleshoot backend issues to ensure platform stability and scalability
  • Maintain high code quality through best practices, peer reviews, and automated testing
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to the technical growth of the team

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in Magento 2 backend development, including custom module creation and system architecture
  • Strong skills in PHP, MySQL, and Magento’s ORM
  • Expertise with Magento API frameworks (REST and GraphQL)
  • Experience with server-side performance optimisation (database indexing, Redis, Varnish caching)
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
