A fast-growing SaaS provider is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of its cloud and systems environment, combining technical expertise with strategic leadership. This position is ideal for someone who wants to remain technically hands-on while also contributing to infrastructure direction and mentoring others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and evolution of a highly available, cloud-based infrastructure supporting critical software services.
  • Administer and optimise services within AWS. Oversee both Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Design and implement a modern CI/CD pipeline, transitioning from legacy deployment methods to automated delivery frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related issues, with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to respond to infrastructure and service availability incidents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with software development and business goals.
  • Drive improvements in system architecture, deployment strategies, and operational practices.
  • Lead and mentor one member of the infrastructure team.

Key Skills

  • Strong experience with AWS services, including EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, and SES.
  • Proficient in administering both Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues across cloud, system, and application layers.
  • Comfortable operating in 24/7 environments with production-level responsibilities and high uptime expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to contribute to a shared on-call rotation.
  • Familiarity with internal IT support functions, such as networking, identity and access management, and endpoint support.
  • Proven ability to lead infrastructure initiatives and support or mentor other technical team members.
  • Experience of managing a small internal IT environment.
  • Knowledge of email technologies is desirable.
