Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care (EBD), Learning Difficulties or Autism

Regulation: Ofsted (CQC experience desirable)

The Role

We are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead the pre-registration and opening of a new children’s residential home supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural or Learning Difficulties or Autism. This is an opportunity to shape a service from the ground up, with strong provider support, alongside fully funded relevant training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop policies, procedures, and Statement of Purpose
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Prepare the home for registration, inspection, and opening
  • Recruit, induct, and manage the residential care team
  • Provide strong leadership and day-to-day operational oversight
  • Deliver high-quality, child-centred care for young people
  • Maintain safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk frameworks
  • Liaise with Ofsted, professionals, and external agencies
  • Drive continuous improvement and inspection readiness

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in children’s residential care (EBD), Learning Difficulties or Autism
  • Previous Registered Manager experience OR Deputy Manager ready to step up
  • Strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations and inspections
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
  • Confident managing services through pre-registration to opening

Desirable

  • CQC experience
  • Experience opening or registering a new home
  • Trauma-informed or therapeutic care background
