Are you an experienced, all-rounded DT Technician looking for a long-term role where you can become a valued part of a school and make a genuine difference to students?
We are working with a large, diverse and inclusive secondary school in Tottenham that places a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for its students and helping them achieve their potential.
The school is looking for an experienced DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department on a long-term basis. This is more than simply preparing equipment. You will play an important role in ensuring students have access to safe, engaging and well-prepared practical lessons where they can develop their creativity, confidence and practical skills.
The Role
* Supporting across the Design & Technology department, including Resistant Materials and Graphics
* Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons
* Setting up and maintaining workshop equipment and machinery
* Working closely with DT teachers to ensure practical lessons run effectively
* Helping create an organised, engaging and safe workshop environment for students
* Preparing materials for student projects and coursework
* Managing tools, equipment, materials and stock
* Carrying out basic maintenance and identifying equipment requiring repair
* Supporting students appropriately during practical activities
* Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed across practical areas
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys practical work but also understands the importance of their role within a school.
You will ideally have:
* Previous DT Technician, workshop or similar technical experience
* An all-rounded practical knowledge of Design & Technology
* Experience with Resistant Materials and Graphics
* Confidence using workshop tools, equipment and machinery
* A good understanding of workshop health and safety
* Strong organisation and attention to detail
* A positive approach to working around young people
* Previous school experience is desirable
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new DBS
