We are looking for an energetic, innovative, forward thinking, and self-motivated clinician with a background in Advanced Nurse Practice who is an independent non-medical prescriber or working toward this qualification. You will have experience working autonomously and responding to rapidly changing service priorities within a primary and acute care setting. You will perform comprehensive assessments of patients with urgent presentations and develop working diagnoses and treatment plans whilst working without direct supervision.
The IUCRS is an evolving team incorporating Urgent Community Response (UCR), the cleric ambulance system (in conjunction with EEAST), virtual wards, in reach into the Integrated Rapid Assessment service (IRAS) based in the Emergency Department Colchester General Hospital, Unplanned Community Nursing and OPAT IV antibiotic service. The role involves travelling throughout Northeast Essex delivering, assessing, and treating patients in their own homes within 2 hours. Based in Kennedy House Clacton-On-Sea with other bases in Colchester. 08:00 – 20:00, 7 days a week. A car driver is essential. Induction, training, and mentoring support are provided.

- Proactively develop the advanced practitioner role in response to challenges within advanced practice.
- Integrate policy, education, practice development and research to meet patient, staff, and student needs.
- Be supported by a mentor and appraisal process with allocated time for continuing professional development.
- Hold a relevant qualification with community experience or transferable skills and understand relevant legislation and treatment methods in this specialist field; be adaptable to change and innovation.
Location and conditions:
IUCRS team based in Kennedy House, Kennedy Way, Clacton-On-Sea, CO15 4AB, with additional bases in Colchester. Salary: Band 7, £47,810 to £54,710 per annum. Permanent, full-time. Fully NHS employed, with a generous pension scheme, flexible working options, 27 days annual leave (pro rata), and access to NHS discounts.

Essential – Qualifications:
- Registered nurse recorded on NMC register
- Professional knowledge and skills underpinned by theory and experience, acquired through degree with specialist training; experience in a specialist field
- Consultation and diagnostics relevant to the area of practice with evidence of appropriate qualification and registration
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Specialist skills relevant to the care group
Desirable – Qualifications:
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
Essential – Skills/abilities:
- Work as part of an integrated team
- Supervise the delivery of care to patients with urgent care conditions
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage a team
- Work independently using own initiative
- Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, email, Excel (or similar)
Essential – Knowledge:
- Broad and relevant assessment knowledge and the ability to choose appropriate assessments
- Advanced therapeutic interventions knowledge and outcome considerations
- Current evidence-based practice awareness
