We have an exciting opportunity within a very successful, positive and vibrant service, for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who may be looking for their next opportunity to develop their knowledge and leadership skills within the NHS. You will work within an MDT to provide highly specialist assessment and diagnosis for children aged between 0 and 19 for ASD, alongside providing supportive advice to parents and other agencies in all issues related to the autism pathway, and will join an established team of SALT within this service.
This role is based at Colchester Hospital at the Primary Care Centre, though there are some clinics operating at our satellite hospitals at Clacton, Harwich and Halstead, so it is essential that applicants can drive and have access to their own vehicle. This is part time 22.5 hours per week post fixed term/secondment until 28th February 2027.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will assist on the continued development of relevant ASD policy, pathways and procedures and be expected to demonstrate highly specialist knowledge in the clinical specialism of ASD underpinned by current evidence based practice. You will develop and deliver training in specialist area and assist with future service delivery improvement agendas and commissioning intentions. The successful candidate will liaise with relevant MDTs, e.g. Regional Networks and external agencies to ensure a quality and effective service is provided for your clinical caseload.

Person SpecificationEssential- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent.
- Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice and current registration.
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (R.C.S.L.T.)
- Evidence of reaching recognised post graduate dysphagia competency and or equivalent experiential competence.
- Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
- Have completed ADOS training and be competent in delivering standardised Autism assessments.
- Experience of delivering training to other Speech and Language Therapists, carers and other professionals.
- Broad range of experience in a variety of disorders prior to specialisation.
- Experience in supervising SLT staff.
- Experience in managing / co-ordinating SLT staff.
- Proven post graduate experience within care group.
